Laferla’s Home Insurance provides different types of cover to protect your home and valuables. Here’s what each section includes:
Buildings Insurance
This covers the structure of your home and immovable fixtures, fittings and items, including:
- Walls including plastering and painting, roof, floors including tiling/marble, and ceilings.
- "M&E" (Mechanical & Electrical) installations, i.e. electrical and plumbing works.
- Fitted kitchens, bathrooms, and built-in wardrobes.
- Permanent fixtures such as Air Conditioning units, light fittings, PV (solar panel) systems and batteries.
- Swimming pools, outbuildings (such as poolside rooms and sheds) and interconnected garages.
Best for: Homeowners who want to protect their property from damage.
Contents Insurance
This covers the movable items inside your home, such as:
- Furniture, electronics, and appliances.
- Clothing and household goods.
- Valuables like jewellery and watches (up to a limit of €2,500 per item, unless specified).
- Artworks, antiques, collectibles and collections (wines & spirits, art, coins & precious items, etc.).
Best for: Homeowners who want to insure their furniture and personal belongings.
Personal Belongings Insurance
This optional cover protects your valuables even when taken outside the home.
- Mobile phones, laptops, and cameras.
- Watches and jewellery.
- Bicycles and sports equipment.
Best for: Anyone who owns expensive personal items.
How Do I Choose the Right Cover?
- If you own your home, consider both Buildings & Contents Insurance.
- If you rent, you typically only need Contents Insurance.
